Amulya's Post

Greetings From Abroad
By: Amulya
Helllooooo, Room 19!!!!! I am Amulya, your fifth grader from India. Sorry, it has been a VERY long time since I got in touch with anyone in Portal. (Except Meryem)

It feels like I have been in Meridian (the school I go to now) for a long time. In India, our timetable for the year is hard to get used to. We have 3 Terms aka Semesters. In every term we first have slip tests, Unit tests, and then slip tests again, then...the term tests. I got A+ for Social Studies, Science, English, Computers and Telugu (3rd Language). For Hindi (2nd Language), gulp, I got a C!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am getting a dog during the Dasarah holidays. It is going to be a Yellow Labrador Retriever. If it is a boy, we will name him Buddy. If it is a girl we will name her Daisy. I am SOOOOOOO excited.

I miss Portal & the U.S. more than anything.

P.S. I want every 4rth grader to know that Room 19 is the best among the Rockhopper villages and that you are very lucky to be in this class.

BYE!!!!!!!!!!! MISS YOU ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What questions to do have for me about living and going to school in a far away country? What things do you think are different and what do you think is still the same? Please ask away and more than one question is definitely allowed! ;0)

Hi Amulya! We are reading a book where the character notices all the little things about being in a different country. She notices the building, cars, roads, weather...everything. What are some differences you notice just as you are driving around in the car?

2nd question: Do the students at school play some of the same games we play here at recess time?

You are lucky that you get a pet dog. I have always wanted a pet cat because my neighbours have one, and it is so cute!! It is a weird coincidence that we are reading about someone who has moved to America from China, and you have moved from America to India! Nice job on getting a lot of A+. Are the schools very different? I have heard that India has very hard schools. Did you make any new friends?

Hi Amulya! You are lucky that you are going to get a pet dog. I have always wanted one. You know how Malini saw your blog, What is the website? Hopefully you are having a lot of fun in India. How are the schools different, and have you made any new friends?

Hi Amulya! I love your blog it is funny. I can't beleive you got an A in everything. If I were you I would have gotten a B or a C and maybe a few A's, especially in Telugu. I suck at learning languages. Speaking of languages what language do you speak in the city of Hydrebad? You are so lucky that you get a dog. I know as long as I live in my house(the one my parents own) I will NEVER get a dog.

Hi Amulya! I really miss you! How's everything in India? Everything is pretty fine here. I really liked your idea if our class and your class being pen pals. Hopefully Ms McPheeters says yes. Do you remember all the previous fifth graders names?
Can you email me?
Hopefully you're having fun!

Amulya I'm am happy to keep contact with you. Are you having a good time? or a bad one? How is your school and have you got any friends or have you not found anyone? I'm am happy to here you are getting pretty good grades(as long as it's not an F). I'm sure there is a lot of different things there and a lot hotter then the bay areas cool and moist environment. Well just relax and don't stress and you'll be fine(I guess).

When is the Dasarah holidays? What is it about? I wish I could get a dog, but my mom said no because my cat and my guinea pig wouldn't like it. A C is not so bad for a language you don't really speak, because if I had a test on how I speak Turkish then I would flunk completely! I guess school there isn't so different from the schools here and I think the fourth graders already know that Room 19 is the among the Rockhopper villages. What holidays do you celebrate? Do you celebrate Halloween there? What same holidays do you celebrate there that we celebrate here?

~(still curious)

Hi Amulya! How is your life in India? I visited Delhi in the summer. It is the capitol of India. I know that it can get pretty hot in India. Delhi is so polluted that there was only a few days where you could even see glimpses of blue in the sky. You are lucky you can get a dog. But in India aren't there many stray dogs just roaming around the streets? If I could get a dog I would get golden retriever, but they are pretty expensive here. How much do dogs cost in India? BYE
