Sarah's Post

The Grand Canyon
By: Sarah Chui

During the winter break, my family and I went to the Grand Canyon. There was snow and we had a snowball fight. We also saw a great hill to sled on but we forgot to bring the sled! At the Grand Canyon, there were trails and we could go out a little into the Grand Canyon. It was so wonderful that my sister even thought it was fake! In the souvenir shop, there were rocks that were polished of many different colors. There were also post cards showing the Grand Canyon everywhere, as well as gemstones, glass models, antiques,( The things Indians made ) playing cards, sweatshirts with the words Grand Canyon on the front, etc.

The Grand Canyon had shades of dark red, light red, red, dark orange, orange and light orange. They were made from the rocks, cliffs, hills and valleys. The colors blended in real good. I couldn't tell where the different colors meet. There were so many layers of rocks, so I didn' t try to count. We saw the Grand canyon in the morning, so the sun shined onto the Grand Canyon directly. The Grand Canyon is 18 miles wide and 5,000 ft. deep! It also is 227 miles long! It was the most amazing sight I would never forget. Are there any sights you would never forget??

The sight that I will never forget is the scenery of the mountains that I saw while riding on the bus to outdoor school last year. I think the mountains were the Sierra Nevada. I took us about seven hours to drive there.

A sight I would never forget is the sunset at this beach called sunset beach. You could go to this area that you can see the sunset. It was beautiful. The area was placed so nicely the sun was right looked like it was right ahead of you. You could see the sun "sinking" into the ocean.

How could anyone forget a sight like that?! A sight that I never forgot was a picture of my mother's part of the family when she was a baby. I know that is a kind of weird thing to remember for my life, but my grandfather was in that picture. He died when I was very young and I loved him so much. It's hard to remember a person you love that much.

One of the sights I will never forget is the time when I went to Hawaii and looked out into the Pacific Ocean. It was the probably the most beautiful scene I will never forget. Another sight I will never forget is when I saw the sunset. The clouds were pink and purple and the sky was orange! My last sight for now(too much so I won't type all the fravorite sights)that I liked alought was when I went to L.A to visit my cousins. THe sight seeing part was when we went to this art museum called the Getty Art Museum. We saw every thing from the very top layer of the Museum. We saw the ocean, birds, people, and the big trees. These are some sights I would never forget.

One of the sights I would never forget is when I went to Grand Canyon over the winter break and the sun was setting. There was a straight line of the canyon and I could only see one half of the sun. I went on a tour called Sunset Tour. WE went at the same time... How come I didn't see you?

One sight that I will never forget is a sunset I saw at Salt Point Beach, when my family went camping with two other families we know. It was really pretty, because you could actually see the sun going down while the moon was coming up. The moon was a full moon that was nearly as bright as the sun. It's amazing that I still remember this, because I was only six year old, but I do still have a picture of the moon rise to remind me. I can't wait until I go there again.
