What Moms Say During A 24 Hour Period
By: Carolyn
Sometimes moms say things that are annoying or funny to us kids, like go clean your room, or go do your homework. One lady that is a mom found out what a mom would say in a 24 hour period. She condensed it down to two minutes and fifty five seconds! It also has 6,718,808 views on youtube. One of our family friends sent it to us. It is amazing because it is sung to the William Tell Overture. I have one favorite quote from the movie. It is "No texting at the table." It is one of my favorite quotes because I text a lot at the table with my parents' cell phones.

Is there anything that your mom has said that is funny? Has your mom ever said any of these things,( from the movie)if so what? If you were a parent would you tell your kids the same things your mom is telling you? Explain why or why not.

Well I learn music. So I always hear my mom saying PRACTICE YOUR MUSIC! It's so annoying. I know exactly how it feels. Sometimes my mom makes me do extra music. Which I hate!

My mom always tells me to get off the computer because I like to play on it a lot. If I were a parent I would tell my kids to get off the computer, because if you play a lot(even I don't play that much) you might need glasses. Something funny my mom says is when I ask her why she says because I want you to(or whatever is appropriate for the situation).

I am sort of like you Kedar. I like to play on the computer also but not that much. And the answer to every mom gives you when you ask her why she said that is "Because I said so."

My mom always (like Kedar's mom) tells me to get of the computer! I play a lot of games on the computer. It's sooo addicting. Even though I play A LOT I sometimes wonder why I don't have glasses. Anyways, one thing that I'm glad my mom doesn't agree with is getting a PHD in college. Imagine how many years of studying! Even though my mom and dad both got a PHD they said don't spend your whole life studying.
Unlike Kedar's mom my mom doesn't say "because I daid so." My mom doesn't have that attitude. =] Instead she gives me a more reasonable answer.

Yes, I think my mom told me to turn the phone down. If I was a parent right now, I wouldn't tell my child to do all of those things. Sometimes, especially when you're a teen, kids need space.

Okay, I guess I am the only mom from both room 19 and room 24 so I probably could share some thoughts with you. First of all, thank you Carolyn, for sharing this interesting video. I never said "Because I said so" to my kids and I don't like nagging my kids either. If they don't behave or take care of themselves, they will just take the consequence. If they don't finish their homework or bring it to school, they get sent to the homework club or receive poor grades from their teachers. If they don't put their dirty clothes at the right place, they don't get clean cloth to wear. I am one of the few parents who don't force the kids to play piano. I still don't know if this is a right decision, but I rather let my kids choose for themselves. Yes, I do tell them the importance of protecting their eyes from prolonged period of playing video games or reading books. Instead of telling them to get off the computer or stop reading, they set a timer of 45 minutes to remind themselves. Yes, I do say "I love you" to my kids often because I do, and we also hug each other daily. Every mom I come to know at Portal loves her kids. Have you hug your mom recently? It always makes me feel great when I get a hug from my kids!

My mom also tells me to get of the computer because I like to play on it a lot! At first to me, it is a reminder but when she starts repeating the same thing, it gets annoying. Like Luke if I were a parent I would let my kids do anything they want because I would know how it feels when moms say stop doing this stop doing that. Nice blog post Carolyn. It was really funny!

My mom said two things from the video. One of them are get of the computer when I am typing e-mails and cheacking this blog. She also says, like himaja said, pratice your music. You had a very funny, halarious video!

My mom usually says all of these things except the one where she says 'If all your friends jumped of a cliff would you jump too?'
My family watched this and they all laughed out loud. Right now I would not probably not think that I would say any of these things, but I bet that I will once I have children of my own I will because sometimes kids don't remember what their mom tells them to do so she has to remind you every single day. I hope I won't have to do it! (:o (oh, no!).
