Leopard is an operation system made by the computer company Apple. An operation system is a system that helps you do your work and manage your documents. It’s what the computer needs to turn on. OK, this is confusing so think of it this way. Your computer is a bunch of metal, plastic, and silicon. The operation system is there to control the computer chips (not the chips you eat). When you turn on the computer the operating system starts loading and up pops up a lot of graphics like menus, buttons, etc. Microsoft also made operating systems for non-Apple computers called Windows. These non-Apple systems are called PCs. Well, Apple wants to make money so Leopard only works on Apple systems named Macs. Recently, people have hacked Leopard (or Mac OS X Leopard 10.5) to run on PC. Here is some vocabulary you need to know before you try this guide out:(And what I’m talking about in the blog)

Partition: a section that of the disk that is formatted
Format: this is writing a file system to a disk
File System (FS): a system or code of how to store files (ntfs, fat32, hfs+, ufs, etc.)
GUID and MBR: a bootable disk type, GUID type are used for Macs and MBR type are used for PCs
Disk: an object for storing data
Torrent or BitTorrent: a file sharing program from computer to computer
Program: a code stored in the hard drive that allows you to do something
Mbit: a number of data traveling through the internet

What you need:
DVD
1 computer
Vista Install DVD
10+ MBit Internet connection
A person that wants to do this

1. Download Leopard x86 JaS from a torrent website. Download a torrent downloader too, like Azureus and it will open up the .torrent file for you. It took me a day for the DVD to finish downloading.
2. Burn the ISO to a DVD or if it is in parts like part01.rar download WinRAR and select all and extract it.
3. Reboot and insert your Vista install DVD and select your language and click “next”. Then select “Repair my computer” even though it’s not broken. Then, select “next” again and select Command Prompt. Type:
Diskpart
Select disk 0
Delete partition 1
Convert gpt
Exit
4. Reboot and insert the DVD you just burned. Press enter when a screen pops up that says, “Press any key to boot into Mac OS X (8)”.
5. Select your language in the screen.6. Click “continue” and “agree”.
7. Click Utilities>Disk utility.
8. Select your hard disk and click the Partition tab. Click Options and select GUID. Finally, use Mac OS X (Journaled) format and name the disk Macintosh HD. Click “Apply”.
9. Select Disk utility>Quit and select the HD you just created.
10. Click “next” and select “Customize” deselect all applications except Mac OS X essential software.
11. Take a cup of coffee while it installs.
12. It’ll reboot and come to a setup screen. Follow the instructions and disconnect your internet connection(s) because you don’t want to register on Apple’s servers.
13. Congratulations you’ve installed Leopard on PC.

I like Windows better because I dont know what leopard is until you just told me. Even if you give me the instructions on how to run leopard on Dell, I dont think I can hack into anything.
I like windows also like Jamie because I didn't know what leopard is. Also I have a Windows XP Professional and a Windows 2000. What is a: torrent downloader, ISO, a part10.rar, and a WinRAR?

Thank you for CLEARLY explaining the difference between the two operating systems. It makes much more sense now. Your detail and sequencing in your post show you knowledge base in this area. Very nice job!
So, which do I like better?....I think I like Leopard now. I used to have a Dell at home and found it hard to switch to a Mac. (all the buttons are in different places)But now that I got used to it, I LOVE my Mac! It is easy to use, very user friendly, and I love the look of it too. Mac has some great video /picture software and seems more "new and hip" as opposed to a PC.
I agree with both Jamie and Kedar for the same reason.(i didn't know what the Leopard was until you told me). Also i think that Windows is better because I have more knowledge in Windows. I should be able to operate the Windows better than the Leopard. Therefore,I am saying that since I am more used to the Windows,I would like Windows better than the Leopard
I extremely LIKE Windows. I like it because I think if there was a race on which computer could visit a certain website first, I think Windows would win. I have a Windows Vista computer and it goes very fast unlike Ms. McPheeter's apple computer (no offence Ms. McPheeters.) One example of her computer was going slow is when in science room 24 were watching a vidieo and it took FOREVER to load. Although Apple computers are good for buisness stuff and school stuff what matters to me is the speed. This is why I like Windows Vista better.
I also agree with Jamie,Kedar,and Brian for the same reason.(I had no idea what leopard was until you told me.)Since I haven't used leopard I would like to try it out when I get a chance,but right now I am comfortable with Windows XP Professional.

My dad says that people who love computers should Linux. Maybe you should use Linux for your operating system because he says it's quite interesting. I guess I like Windows better because I haven't experienced Leopard.
I love windows because they are very fast computers and I have more experience on windows and I have experinced Leopard and I hated it. I also like Winword which you have to buy on a mac. I personally LOVE Sony Vaio. We don't own one but I have used one and I loved it. Apple gives free computers to schools because if kids are trained with Macs they buy Macs. My sister fell into this trap and bought a Macbook my sister and I both hated it so we returned it. I currently own a Dell Dimension 8400 And I love it. It's operating system is Pentium 4 but it is still really fast.
You had a nice post Lucas. I agree with Mrs. Mcpheeters that you are the new Bill Gates (or Mr. Donogan Jr.). I didn't know what a torrent downloader or any of the other things are before you told me. I quizzed my mom on your "Computer Vocabulary" and she knew only two of them!!
As for your question, I like the Windows better because, like Brian, I know more about Windows than leopard. T didn't even know about Leopard before your post! I also think that they look better. I have a Windows XP Professional (like Kedar) and a new Windows Vista! It is so cool and faster working than my XP. I'm still making new settings on it. This is why I like Windows better than Leopard.
This leapord system sounds extremely interesting but I still don't understand a lot of things about it. Like almost everybody, I had no idea there is something called leapord and for me, I think I'll still stick to Windows because I'm more used to it. What is a Dll Dimension E521 anyway? It's a computer I know, but is something new or what? I'm really bad at hacking, so running Leopard on Dell Dimenstion E521 will be a total failure for me. Very interesting blog though. Very interesting.
I agree with Kedar, Brian and Ishan. I've never heard of leopard until now. I have a window XP version 2002 so I know more about windows. Even though you gave us a vocabulary lesson I still don't know a lot of the words you wrote.
I never knew that there was a software called Leopard. At first, I thought you were talking about the animal Leopard. Even though the Leopard sounds interesting I think I would prefer Windows. I have known this software for a long time and liked it. I also Mac because it has many creative, easy to use programs like the imovie, ichat, iphoto etc.
I like Windows better, but now that you mention it leopard is kind of interesting. I have to ask my Dad if I can try to follow your steps. I have a Dell Dimension E310 with Windows XP which I am currently using. Just like Ishan I like my computer for it's speed.
I still don't understand why you want to hack into anything. I still like Windows because I'm not used to everything on a dock. I like the Windows format much better. I also have windows vista and windows Vista has it's own file for everything. I've never really had that much experience with apple either. I only use them at school. I've never really went into apple and see how everything works. So I like Windows better, and by the way, what is dell dimension E521?
I can't say which one I like but I prefer Windows because I have a Windows XP and I'm more used to it than Leopard. I never experienced the Leopard. I have a few questions: 1: What is Vista Install DVD and what do you mean by DVD? 2: Dell is a type of computer, right? Besides that, you explained a lot of detail. Nice blog post!
I like windows because what you are telling me about leopard is confusing and i didn't know what it was till know.I also have dell.

I like Windows better. Like everyone, I didn't know what a leapord was until you told me.I also like windows better because I am used windows. Like ishan,I like things that are faster like windows. I know more about windows than leapord. I have a windows laptop and I think it goes pretty fast already. This is why I like windows better. By the way, you had a great blog and awsome instructions.
Well I think the Leopard is better for many reasons. First of all it is way faster then Windows! Another thing is that the kids won't like Leopard because it is only good for working. Like running programs such as Apple Works. By the way Ishan. The only reason Ms.Mcpheeters has a slow laptop is because she has the old type (no offense Ms.Mcpheeters). The new MacBook Air is way faster and it is as thin as a notebook! The new Apple Mac Pro is also way faster with the Leopard then the regular Microsoft computer with Windows. Finally, the last reason why Leopard is better than Windows is that it has way less viruses! There is like a million viruses on Windows Vista!
Even though Windows Vista has a lot of viruses you can still have a good antivirus software. (By the way my antivirus software detected spyware on Ms. McPheeter's site 2 times! If you don't know what spyware is ask Lucas.) Also like Dhruv said Apple is more of buisenss and school work. I'm more of a gaming person. Also there are cool features on Windows Vista for example if you click a button in Windows Vista the programs you opened will come to a smaller view and you can see all the programs you opened. You can also scroll between the programs.
OK, a torrent download program lets you download a file using a .torrent file. part10.rar is a part of the ISO. ISO is a file you can burn to a DVD using UltraISO and Nero programs. WinRar extracts .rar which is like .zip files. Dell Dimension E521 is a computer. Leopard x86 may not be compatitble from your computer. Check www.osx86.com to find out. Vista Install DVD is the DVD to install Windows Vista. Also you can use Windows XP 64 bit DVD instead of Vista and the Windows Server 2007. Remember, Leopard = Mac OS X 10.5
Hey Lucas, that was a really informative blog!! I think I like the Windows better because in my opinion Windows is much faster. Also I have used it more than I used Leopard. Infact I don't think I have ever heard of Leopard. This is my first time hearing about Leopard. Anyways I still learnt a lot!!
I also have a dell dimension e521, and I actually had already tried installing Leopard on it but it wouldnt format the secondary harddrive that I installed (80gb's). So today I happened to come across your blog post by google searching and seeing that you had success doing this I'm very interested. Although I cannot convert my second HD to gpt.. I dont have a Vista boot disc but only an XP boot disc and I cant enter the cmd prompt off this disc to convert the disk to gpt. I tried while booted into windows xp and it gives me an error message saying: "The disk configuration operation did not complete. check the system event log for more information on the error. verify the status of your storage devices before retrying. if that does not solve the problem, close the disk management console, then restart disk management or restart the computer". I tried google searching the error message but didnt find anything related to converting the harddrive to gpt. I'm totally lost here... do you have any suggestions?. Thanks in advance!.
I had to do this to get it to work:
1.Download LEO4ALL
2.Burn it using UltraISO
3.Boot from it
4.Select your language
5.Go to Utilities>>Disk Utility
6.Select your Hard Disk on the left column
7.Select the parition tab and click on the Options button
8.Check the MBR or GUID box
9.Select Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
10.Click Apply
11.Select Disk Utility>>Quit
12.Proceed by clicking Next and Agree
13.Select your Hard Disk
14.Click Next
15.Click Customize and select the AMD System Fix and select NForce chipset by going to Third Party Drivers>>Chipsets
16.Click Install
17.Right after it reboots press any key and type -s
18.Type:
sbin/fsck -fy
sbin/mount -uw /
passwd root
(type desired passwd)
(retype it)
touch /var/db/.AppleSetupDone
exit
19.Once you get to the Logon screen type root as username and the passwd you just typed
20.Go to Apple>>System Prefernces
21.Click Accounts
22.Click the + button on the left column
23.Type in desired name, short name, and passwd and select OK and check Allow the user to Adminster this computer
24.Select Apple>>Log Out
25.Click the account you just created and type in the passwd
26.Go to Applications>>Utilities
27.Double click on the Terminal and type:
dsenableroot -d -u (username)
(your passwd)
28.You're done!
Note:passwd=password
Actually if you select GUID in Disk Utility you can just follow the instructions on this guide.
