First Impressions

My dad just told me that we are going to get a new car tonight, a 1967 Mustang! He told me that it was coming late at night, so I would have to wait to see it in the morning. I had to go to bed, but I was planning to stay up until it came and run downstairs to see it. I crawled into my bed, but next thing I knew my dad was telling me to wake up and get ready for school. “Aw, I didn’t stay up,” I thought. I quickly got dressed and went downstairs to see our new car. Before I opened the door, I imagined a beautiful shiny new car. I opened the garage door and I saw this old, ugly, maroon colored car that was full of spider webs. I pretended that it was the nicest car in the world because my dad was really excited and I didn’t want to hurt his feelings.
Soon, my dad started working on it every weekend. He took out the engine, built a new one, and put it back in the car. He changed almost every part in the car! Soon it was painted a shiny dark blue color and getting new wheels and tires. Now it was looking better and better! After three years of hard work, my dad is finally finished! It is now the most fun car to ride in because it is loud, I can sit in the front seat because it has no airbags, and I can plug my IPod in and listen to all my favorite music. Now, the car is even more than I ever dreamed it would be! Have you ever had a bad first impression of something that later turned out to be great?

Great post. I saw your car on Monday morning and thought it was really cool. Ive never had a bad impression on something and later saw it was good.
Great post, Courtney! Off the top of my head, I can't think of anything that had a bad first impression and turned out to be something great. I know that people, no one in particular, can have a bad first impression, and then turn out to be one of your good friends. Once again, great post!
Yes, because I thought Grand Sierra in Reno was going to be great, just like Circus Circus my favorite hotel there. I found out there was no Midway, if some of you know what it is in Circus Circus, but when I found out there was only an arcade, I hated it. But then I saw some of my friends, and started enjoying my stay at Grand Sierra.
Yes Courtney, I have. At first, when I looked at my D.S., it looked like a spider's nest. But then I cleaned it, and it looked as good as new.
NIce Post! I once thought that we were going to lose easily in the cricket final when we made the lowest score of the tournament. In the end, we ended winning in a stunning finish.
Yes. Once I went to Taiwan. I thought I would be bored to death until I actually got there and made tons of friends, and had tons of fun. It was awesome. Nice post! It's really cool. It's like,"Don't judge a book by it's cover!"
On Monday, January 30, 2012, I thought the Miami Heat would loose because in the first quarter they were down by 12 points. By the way, 12 points is a lot. Anyways, in the second and third quarter, the Heat dominated. In those quarters, the Heat outscored the Hornets 60-39. In the end, the Heat won 109-95. LeBron James had 22 points, 11 rebounds, and 8 assists. That is a double double! A double-double is when a player gets 10+ rebounds, assists, steals, or points. Keep in mind that the player has to at least get 10+ points in two of these categories to confirm a double-double. The Heat's three point shooting was great. They were 40% from behind the arch. The Hornets were 31% from behind the arch. The Heat also had a better free-throw percentage than the other team. The Heat were 81% from free-throw range while the Hornets were only 58% from the line. The Heat also out-rebounded the Hornets by hoisting down 39 rebounds. The Hornets grabbed 25 rebounds. As you can see, the Heat did better than the Hornets in the most important categories. Therefore, the Heat won! Now they are 16-5 while the Hornets fall to 4-17, the second worst record in the N.B.A.

Hi Courtney,
Great post! Your dad really fixed that car? Wow! That is so cool! When I first started to swim in a new swim school, I thought it was going to be bad. Now that my parents forced me to join, I love this new swim center! I used to think that no swim school is better than Daca. Now, I think that there aremany good swim places. Since I joined Santa Clara Swim Club, they helped me improve and go to swim meets. I am so thankful that my parents joined me in Santa Clara Swim Club.
I don't remember ever having a bad impression of something that is good, but I have done the opposite! Once I thought the Percy Jackson series was boring, but now I don't!
I have had many bad first impressions. However, most of the time they actually ended up decent. One example was when my mom forced me to read much more books from the library when I was really young. I thought that books were extremely boring that time. However, I found a lot of good books and started liking reading.
No way! A 1967 mustang is rare these days. I have definitely had a bad first impression. A few years ago, we got a new Blu-Ray dvd player. I thought it was awesome, until on netflix I realized you had to pay for good movies, and you could only watch movies from the instant que. Turns out, I was wrong! You could watch anything that showed up on netflix. I learned that just a few weeks ago. You got a really nice car and a great post to go with it!
Wow! I think this blog is perfect for me because first, I love to see cars, and I've made so many first impressions that were wrong! I first thought that Stephen Curry was not going to be a big help for the Golden State Warriors. Then his stats started to get better and better over the years. Now, I think that Stephen Curry is great and has a good attitude which is always good for sports. The second impression that I made was with my dog. I thought Cookie was going to be loud, bark, and be annoying while trying to focus. But now it turns out that all Cookie does is sleep but somehow has energy to play with and keep me company. Well, I sure have learned some lessons over the years.
Nice post Courtney! No I have not ever had a bad impression and then turning out to be great. I still think that happened when I just went to school, but I can't remember that. Nice Mustang! Overall, nice post!
Ah, Rock Hopper Room 19 and 24 with Mrs. Yu! These were the days. I I wonder if you guys still remember me? Ishan Sharma:)
Anyways,
Yes, this happens to people many times. One of the basic things on human nature is having a bad impression, or judging someone, before they actually know the person. I have unconsciously judged many people who turned out to be great friends! Hope all of you have a great year! Ishan Sharma, 8th grade
P.S. I am at school and I was bored so I decided to check out this blogspot:)
Nice post Courtney!
I am amazed! Your dad must be really good with cars. You are very lucky to be able to ride in the front. I have looked at a book. It looked very bad. Turns out, it was great.
Dear Courtney,
Great post! I have had those impressions before. For example, I hated spinach at the start. But, after a few years I grew into it and now I totally love it. Once again, great post!
All I can remember, is that my house used to look terrible. I felt like it was the worst house ever! But now we had add adjustments to it, and it is now painted, fixed, and it looks absolutely awesome! By the way, nice car.:)
Yes I had a time like that. I judged a book by it's cover than decided not to read it. Then I heard it was a very good book and I read it and it turned out to be a really good book.
Hi Courtney! Great post!
It is amazing on how your dad fixed that car up in only 3 years! Anyway, I did have a bad first impression on American Girl Dolls but now, I play with them a lot! They are not girly dolls, they are just like any other toy! At first I thought that they were girly, now I have outfits for my two dolls all over the place! I have had many bad first impressions on many things but it makes to large of a list!
Again great post.
Yes, I did have a bad impression that turned out to be okay. Well, it's kind of embarrassing so I don't want to share it but I did have a bad impression that turned out to be okay.
Great post, Courtney! I think I have an experience that is a little bit similar to yours. One time, on a Saturday night, when my mom and little sister were on a Girl Scouts camping trip, my dad decided to pick a movie on Netflix him, my older sister, and I to watch that night. My sister and I knew what to expect, because usually, when my dad picked the movie, it ended up being some old film or something. He ended up picking out an old movie called "2001: A Space Odyssey". The movie was made before 2001, so it was like an old, future movie, if that makes any sense. Just based on the appearance of it, I got a bad first impression. A few minutes into the movie, my older sister fell fast asleep, but I kept watching, just to make my dad happy. The plot was very complex, but, basically, there were these astronauts on a mission to Saturn, and they had a super-computer named Hal. Hal was so intelligent, he tried to destroy all the astronauts and take over the spaceship. It was quite an interesting movie, and I ended up kind of liking it. It was pretty funny how a while ago people thought that humans would have such advanced technology, a city on the moon, and a super-computer who could do almost any thing a human could, all by 2001. I think since then I've learned not to judge a book by its cover.
Great post, that is amazing that your dad remodled an entire car by himself. I have a car that is really old, but it hasn't changed at all. My dad said it would be my test driving car when I am old enough to drive a car. But I probably will get a new car by then. So I'm just waiting for my mom to get her new car.
Yes, that has happened to me before. Last year, my dad made me go to Rainbow Chinese School. It is at Homestead high school on Saturday mornings. At first I didn't want to go because I already go to chinese school after school. I had to go to level 4 when I was only in 3rd grade. At first I hated it because I had to get up early in the morning, study for tests that come once every two weeks, and do the six- or seven-paged homework. I solved the homework problem when I met a classmate. She stayed in for recess because there wasn't anything to do outside and did her homework. Soon we were doing our homework together at recess. The tests weren't too hard and I got used to rising early in the morning. Now Chinese school isn't that bad.
P.S. Great job, Courtney!
Once my mother made this really weird soup. She called it "lemon-chicken soup". It was kind of disgusting, bitter and sour all at once. The chicken didn't even taste like chicken! And she also made us have it every day until we finished the whole pot of soup. Eventually, I got used to it and it tasted ok.
I once got a new video game on Christmas, and at first, I was really excited about it. The first day I started playing, I couldn't figure out the moves. I tried for 30 minutes, but I wasn't successful(even after reading the rule book). Then, I found out that there was a easier way to play, so I used that and finally progressed in the game. I also bring it to my friend's house to play. They spam(repeating the same move over and over again) against each other though...
