Metrodome Collapses in Minnesota
 By:Olivia

Around 5:00 in the morning the Viking stadiums roof collapsed due to a huge snow storm in Minnesota. Heavy snow fell onto the roof causing it to leak. After a while the snow ripped a huge hole in the roof . Now the Vikings have to play in Detroit because of the hole in their stadium. If you were an Architect and you were assigned to rebuild the stadium roof how would you design it?

I would build the roof with metal, wo when it is raining or having a snowstorm, it wouldn't breack the roof again. When it is a sunny day, I press a button to open the dome and have 4 giant air conditioning vent that is 100 feet high on each side of the field that when it is to sweltering it will cool everybody down.(Even at the HIGHEST seat!

First of all, I wouldn't want to design a football stadium roof, but if I was forced I would design the roof like this. I would also have a dome-shaped roof, but this time with supportive stabilizers. The dome would open up during the football game and the day time. Then there could be real grass. I think that is just about what I can think of.

I would probably build something a lot stronger than that, like a dome made of metal that could open and close. I would make it a dome because that will cause the snow to slide off the roof. They can open and close the dome according to the weather so football games can be played anytime. I would also put the Viking's symbol on the roof.

I would first rebuild the roof with the same material and under it I would put a steel dome. I would make sure that it was strong enough with the same weight the snow had. If it still fails I would put another layer of metal.

I would design a reinforced-glass roof. The roof could open and close whenever it wants. If it hales, then a metal cover will take it's place.

If I could use as much money as I want, I would put like a flatscreen t.v. on the roof. Also I would put a gigantic popcorn box on the side with tubes sticking out of the sides. Then when the team wins, someone could press this button that makes popcorn shoot out the tubes and into the crowd. The crowd would be screaming with happiness that the team won and eating popcorn that fell from the sky! who ever said food can't fall from the sky?

I would design it like a regular house. The dome on the outside is still round, but on the inside it's squared. The roof will have a strong structure and two poles connected to the side, holding it up.

If I designed a football stadium I would make sure that the roof is strong just like metal. Then I would the TV all for sides and not in the center because if its in all four sides other people can see it. Then the other things that are that the grass will be real and the stadium will be in a square and not a dome.
Nice & interesting post!

I would make the roof out of unbreakable glass which storms and tornados cannot break. It would even protect people from earthquakes so they can be safe! Also, the glass would let people look outside whenever they wanted too.

If I were a architect I would design a stadium roof out of steel so extreme weather conditions won't damage the stadium roof. That is how I would design a stadium roof if I were a architect.

I would still use an inflated roof since it is really easy to inflate it and deflate it. In stead of making a dome shaped roof, I would make a roof like this /\. The snow on the roof would slide down on to the ground so not too much snow could gather on the roof.

I would make a clear roof made out of plexiglass that would be two parts so that it could open when I wanted it to to let the sprinkler water evaporate. It would also include a T.V. on the top of of every section of seats so that you could see what was going on no matter where you are seated.

I would design the Viking Stadium with stainless steel rods running horizontal and verticle across the roof. In the middle of the them would be glass with painting of the Viking symbol.

If I was an architect I would make the Metrodome's roof be steel and the building would be a dome so the snow can slip off the sides, if the building was in a place that snowed. But if it was somewhere sunny the roof would be able to open so the real grass would be able to grow. Or I might have a roof top garden like the Academy of Science. The field goal would have vines growing up it with white flowers on it. My stadium would be called Courtney's Plantadium because it will have many plants and flowers all over!

I would design it by putting spider silk on the roof and add in real grass and the silk dome can open and close and in the middle there would a 30 ft tower where all the newswriters and and announcers stay to have a really good look and to see stuff clearly, just say zoom and the glass surounding you will zoom. It would only zoom on your side. The giant screen would be projected on the field and the seats would tilt a little forward and the seats allow you to zoom too.

Nice post. I would design the roof as a steel roof or a metal roof so snow cant rip a hole through it. I would also put a cool open roof feature so when it is a sunny day you con open the roof.

I would have real grass, and have an opening and closing roof so that the grass can get sun light. Also when it rains the roof closes, and the roof will be made from steel and cement so it can't break. There would be a garden on the roof too so that the stadium would smell fresh, not like smelly and sweaty foot ball players. And there would be fireworks on it so they could shoot up when ever a team won showing the name of the winning team, wonderful post Olivia!

I would put some spikes around, and in the middle there would be circle. In the gigantic circle there would be a giant sign that will be written baseball game tonight!I would put some giant lights on too.So other people who are a little far away would see the lights and find out that there is a famous baseball game tonight.

I would design it with lots of metal bars so the roof can hold up more things.

I would design it the same way because that much snow is rare and the original design was efficient, cheap, and works well. They could always shovel the snow off anyway.

If I was an architect, I would rebuild the metrodome with a metal roof so that the snow couldn't break through it.

Awesome Post, Olivia!!!!!!!!
Well, I'd make it be able to "pop off," meaning that it could just fold off so that sunlight would come in, but I would first surely build it out of something other than fabric. Fabric, even if it's really strong, can't survive everything, so it wouldn't be my first choice. I'd probably use some really strong metal, but make it soundproof, so that the players inside wouldn't get distracted if it was raining, or maybe even snowing again. Also, I'd make the bottom and the top of the roof covered with the Viking's symbol so that when you opened the roof, one side could see it, and the other side could see it too. Also, when it was closed, then people from above could see it, but the players could be inspired by seeing it from the bottom too. Now, I could go on and on, but that's all I have for now. Again, Cool Post!!

I would design it by making the roof out of metal and let it open and close by a button. I would also put windows it so people outside and sunlight can come in, but the windows should have coverage to protect itself.

If I were to design a roof of a football stadium, I would make it electronic. First of all, it would have a top that opens, and have balloons that shoot up near fire works. That would happen when the home team scores. Second, I would put big T.V.s and have the crowd watch the replay. Third, the ringings on the seats would say something like "Get Loud"!!!. Inconclusion, I think that my football stadium would be very fun to play with.
