Unhealthy Foods

In the past, kids would go on a regular Sunday to get their Happy Meal from McDonalds. They would chomp down their greasy Big Mac and french fries while playing with their toy. Little did they know, their "delicious" sandwich was packed with calories, fat, oil, and sugar. Due to this, the Santa Clara County officials are making a law against McDonalds and other restaraunts to sell toys attracting kids to eat unhealthy foods there. They held a meeting in Silicon Valley debating the subject. County officials believed that toys that come with, for instance, a "Happy Meal" from McDonalds, are like magnets for children who are getting obese. McDonalds say that they will start selling healthy foods with their Happy meals, for example salad and fresh apple juice. Now at days, parents are worrying about their children getting obese and want them to learn to avoid those unhealthy foods. After a vote on Tuesday, 4/25, the official law has been made that "the ban would prohibit restaurants from giving away an incentive item, like a toy, with a meal that contains more than 485 calories, more than 600 milligrams of sodium and excessive amounts of fat and sugars".
Do you think that Santa Clara County has made a correct decision on this law? Why? And if you were the owner of the McDonald's restaurant, what changes would you make in their store (foodwise)?

Santa Clara County made a good desicion to ban toys from meals. Now kids won't only be getting meals just because they have a toy in it. If I was the McDonalds owner, some changes I would make is make all of the foods have less calories and not so greasy. Then I would start selling fruits and vegetables as a side. Now when kids will have their meal, it'll be healty.
I think the Santa Clara County has made the right decision to ban unhealthy foods. Selling toys with the food can make us sick. First of all, the toys already has germs. If you touch the toy then the food, the germs on the toy will go on the food. The burgers they sell have a lot of calories. I have ate a burger that had 160 calories before! It was even the healthiest I can find! If I were McDonnalds, I would put some lower calorie choices and not sell French fries. French fries isn't Healthy at all. You can say:"It is made of potatoes!!!" Little do you know that they FRY the potatoes before serving it to you.
I think Santa Clara County has made the right decision because if kids eat too much unhealthy food they could have problems with their health, get sick, or become too obese. If I were the owner, I would give healthy foods like fruit juices and vegetable soups and salads.
If I was McDonalds owner, I would put a healthy snack with the meal so the child isn't getting too much of each food group. I will put some grapes or a small salad as an extra snack in a meal just like they are doing right now. I would also lower down the number of calories in a regular hamburger.
I think they made a correct choise fast food is a big reason that people in america are obese. If I were manager I would give out healthy foods such as salads and apples not fries and burgers.
I think that Santa Clara County made the correct decision on this law. I think this because this can help other people with there problems. People can stop being obese and be healthier. By doing this you can make the world a better place. If I was the store owner I would change all the non healthy food in to vegetables and fruits. I will keep the prices lower for healthy food and prices expensive for non healthy food. I would do this because poor people now can buy healthy food instead of non healthy food and live a better life.
I think that the Santa Clara County has made the right law.If I were the owner of McDonalds I would not sell the Big Mac or things that have too many calories.
Yes, I think they made a smart decision. Taking away the toys will attract less kids because all little kids want are the toys. This law will help decrease the amount of overweight kids in America. Did you know that about 1 in 4 kids in America are overweight? The reason is usually McDonalds or other fatty foods places. If I was in charge of McDonalds I would try to keep too much fat, sodium, sugar, and cholesterol out of my foods and drinks.
Yes, because obesity is a big problem in America. Kids may even just go to McDonald's for the toys. If I were a McDonalds owner, I would make the foods healthier and with less calories. I think they put toys into their food so they get more business.
I think Santa Clara made the right decision to ban all toys from McDonald and other places where they serve food over 485 calories. If they didn't then there would be more obise people in this world. I think all the states should do that to since that would stop many people in our country to become obise. If I were the owners of the McDonald restraunt then I would make the changes the Santa Clara county has made. Then more people would come to my place since there are more healthier foods instead of food that makes you fat.
If I were a McDonald's manager, I would want to change the eating style because it is not healthy and now people are realizing that. The best way to get more people to come buy food at my restraunt is to make healthy food. I would listen to the government about this situation and only put in toys if there are healthy foods.
I think they made the right decision. Those toys attract kids to come eat there. And since the food is so unhealthy they all get fat. More and more kids have been having weight problems and getting obese. Even if those toys are cute, they should attract kids to eat healthy foods. And that will earn them money by selling healthy foods too.
I think they should sell more fruit and vegetables like for subway for example, it does not have any meat and beans. At MCdonalds they should ban ALL meat and beans for children and adults.
I think that Santa Clara County is correct about this decision. That is because America already has an overweight problem and the Happy Meal toys are making it even worse. A perfectly healthy kid might eventually turn into a obese kid because he is desperate for the toy located inside the Happy Meal. If I was the owner of McDonalds, I would lower plenty of items in their food. For example, I would lower the fats, sugar, salt, calories, and preservatives. This will make all of McDonalds' products healthier.
I think the Santa Clara County is doing the WRONG thing of bannig the toys McDonalds gives with the Happy meals. Even though it is attracting the kids to eat the unhealthy food, I still think it isn't right to ban the toys. But if I were the McDonalds manager, I would start putting some health in the food they sell. Like put more vegetables in the sandwiches. That way there will be happy and UNobese children on this planet.
I think the Santa Clara County has made a great law because if kids get healthy the can ALWAYS make the right choices in their life as the go on in life. If I were a McDonald's owner I first take out ALL the unhealthy foods. Then I would put some small sandwiches with some healthy things in it such as Roman Lettuce, tomatoes, and tomato ketchup. Then I would put a salad with a collage of green veggies in it. This is what I would do to help the community.
I think that they are making the right choice because people will stop getting obese. If kids get obese, when they become older they'll start getting much slower and won't be able to do hard work the way they used to.
I think that Santa Clara County officers have done the right thing to not let fast food resturants give toys away. If, fast food resturants give away toys kids will be attracted and will get obese. If Santa Clara County hadn't done it, fast food resturants will be ruining the future United States citizens. There would be obese people everywhere.
I think Santa Clara County is making a very good choice. Toys with a meal make many kids eat at McDonalds. If toys weren't with the meal, I'm sure that less kids would eat at McDonalds. If I was McDonalds' manager, I would start adding fresh vegetables and fruits. I would decrease the junk food storage. I would still add the toys, though, to get kids to eat the healthy foods.
I think what the Santa Clara County officials are doing is right because, as Dilip said, the toy actually attracts kids like my brothers into eating unhealthy foods. If I was the owner of the Mcdonald's restaurant, I would put salad, fruits, and non-fat stuff in Happy meals. The toys would attract kids to eat more healthier meals than in the past. I would also increase the price of the hamburgers, french fries, and other fatty foods. Then I would lower the price of healthy foods, so poor people wouldn't have to eat fatty food and be obese, but eat healthier.
I think that the Santa Clara County has made the right decision on this law because if they hadn't, then kids would start whining to get the toys. Their parents would get it for them because some think it's embarassing for their kids to whine so they give them whatever they want so they don't whine. If the kids get what they want, they will eat unhealthy things, such as greasy hamburgers, and they might become obese at a very young age. If I was the owner of the McDonald's restaurant, I would change their food menu to somethings healthy or make them not so oily, so kids would like to eat them even though it has changed.
I think Santa Clara has made the correct decision. There are many kids who want the toy in the meal instead of eating the meal. If I could make changes to their meals then I would make them with less calories. Most of the costumers who are kids are fat and are forced to eat the meal because they only wanted the toy. The toy also might contain chemicals that are poisonous if you eat it. If you touch the toy then the meal you might get sick from the chemicals.
