            Summer Vacation                          

By:Alicia         What did you do over the summer? What were your adventures? Well, I went to Orange County,Los Angeles. We went on Friday and came back on Sunday. When we got there, I checked my hotel, Holiday Inn. The hotel was really fancy and had a gym. my friends and I played in the gym and later went swimming. On Saturday, I woke up at 7:00am and went to a hotel for an abacus competition. We went there for a competition. I won two 5th places, one 4th place, and one 3rd place. After, we went to Home-Town Buffet to eat. Later, we went window shopping. On Sunday, I went to Knott's Berry Farm. The rides were so scary! Especially the Sliver Bullet and Ghost rider. I had a lot of fun adventures there. I hope to find out what adventures you had.

Special Talents

Have you ever done something incredible where people ask you how you do it and you just say that you were born to do it? I think every single person in the world has a special talent. I can solve the Rubik's cube and people ask me how I do it. You could be double jointed, spell a super long word, or even say a super long tongue twister amazingly fast. I want to know everybody's talents and how they do them. One thing I found out is that when you see something super cool and try to do it, it is really hard to do it. What are your special talents that are superb? Why do you think certain people can do their talents?

Subjects & Predicates

Every sentence has a subject. It tells whom or what the sentence is about. The complete subject includes all the words in the subject, and the simple subject is the main word or words in the complete subject.

Every sentence has a predicate too. It tells what the subject is or does. The complete predicate includes all the words in the predicate, and the simple predicate is the main word or words in the complete predicate.

Create 3 of your own sentences. Write the simple subject and predicate after each sentence in parenthesis. Feel free to make corrections/suggestions about other sentences submitted if you do not agree.

ex: Students of Portal Elementary School treat their classmates with respect. (students/treat)

Our Trip To Mexico

For summer vacation, we visited Mexico. We got a nice hotel next to the beach. There was also a nice swimming pool nearby. There were entertaining shows every night. There was even a club that’s meant just for kids, called kids club which had all sorts of activities, games, and fun.

However, there were jellyfish at the beach. Unaware of them, I got stung. Luckily I got treatment in time. The treatment for jellyfish sting is to take alcohol and rub it on the area where you got stung. Then I remembered – we came there in the jellyfish season. Do you know what should be done before you get medical attention, if you get stung by jellyfish?
