Computer Whiz!
By: George

The most useful invention in my opinion is computer. [I'm using one right now, no doubt] I would say the computer because it lets everybody around the world post things and connect with each other. If there weren't computers, then we would have no idea what's happening in other places. However, not all things were good when it was invented. The internet allowed cyberbullying. People then started making people sad and angry. And the bad people can hide their faces like "who cares."
What do you like or dislike about computers and why???

Summer
By: Jacob

I had a great time in the summer. My summer was
sporty, interesting and of course it had to be fun!!
I'll tell you the activities I did about those three adjectives.
My trip was to a town called Davis.
The first activity I enjoyed was tennis. That was actually the first
thing I did the day after we arrived! Our tennis camp was fun because our
teacher was funny and he was a great tennis player. Another activity i enjoyed
was the farmers market. The farmers market is a get together with the whole town
and eat some food on the grass. Another reason why they come is because the sellers that sell
their food, make money by selling their homemade creations. All in all I think that summer this year was fantastic!!!
Tennis was sporty, farmers market was interesting and both were fun.
What did you do for your summer and what was the was the highlight?

Books! Books! Books!
By:Audrey
Sad face
Hi everyone I hope that you are having a great day! Do you happen to be currently reading a book, because I am! Books are awesome, you just have to be willing to read it.

Have you heard of a genre before? Or do you just happen to know what it means?
Well, a genre is the type of a book. For example, the Harry Potter series is Fantasy. Which means make believe, or how you might know it as a  fairytale. The Diary of a Wimpy Kid is a Realistic Fiction book. Realistic Fiction means that it could happen in real life, but some of it is fake. Have you heard of Star Wars? That is a Science fiction book. It has to do with outer space and all, but Light Sabers and Jedi with the Force aren’t real. There many other genres such as nonfiction, historical fiction, and a lot more. But I can’t get to all of them today.

Have you ever felt bad that your friend has all ready read three books but you are still working on your first?
That is called comparing your self to others, it truly is an awful thing. Never compare your self to others. Don’t read super fast just to finish a book, and then at the end you don’t learn anything. You won’t understand the plot, and then it comes to the AR quiz you end up getting a bad grade.
It makes you bad about your self and you get a bad grade, I mean, how worse could it get? Feel good about yourself. Pat yourself on your back and say good job whenever you finish a book. Your body works at its own pace, don’t rush it. And if you feel like you are being bullied tell the teacher.
They will support you though out the way.

What book are you reading now? Do you like the book? Why or why not?

Favorite Computer Game
By Cody
I like playing computer games and so do you. The computer games I like are Clubpenguin and DragonFable. I like Clubpenguin because you can have friends and stuff. I like DragonFable because you get to buy pets and have a pet dragon for free. Do you have a favorite computer game? Tell me about it.

Back to School

It's hard to believe that it's time for school to start already. It still feels like summer! Well, we've got many interesting topics and fun activities planned for this school year and I'm excited to share them with you. This year I am looking forward to many things: getting to know my new fourth graders, seeing my fifth graders again and watching them become role models for our classroom, watching new friendships form, many participators in our class discussions, respect for EVERYONE, and lots of laughs and smiles. I also look forward to using the laptops with you, giving you some team challenges, singing songs and dancing during class, and Weekly Reminders! (The new fifth graders get to start off with the trophy!) What are you looking forward to this school year?
