Tornadoes!
By: Niraj

On April 27, 2011 five southern states were hit by one of the worst tornadoes in the history of the United States.  The five badly damaged states were Alabama, Georgia, Virginia, Tennessee, and Mississipi. The tornadoes ripped through the states leaving a path of destruction, debris, and damage. The death toll has been estimated to be more than 280! (For more information about this go to www.weather.com)

I recently saw an IMAX trailer of a movie "Tornado Alley". In this they showed how some scientists are trying to understand tornadoes better by going into an actual tornado! It was really thrilling to watch!!

I wonder what can be done to reduce the damage caused by tornadoes. What do you think people can do?

Awesome post Niraj! To reduce the damage caused by tornadoes you can add more protection to states which are most likely to get by tornadoes. For extra protection you can make the buildings stronger.

Nice Post! I think people can't do anything to create less damage done by tornadoes because the power of the tornadoes are very strong.

To reduce the damage of the terrible tornado, people can help the victims by rebuilding houses, stores, and schools. You can also donate money for builders to build new buildings. You can also donate money to buy people new clothes. I bet they lost a ton of their crops, so food will be needed. To solve that problem you can donate food.

I think we could improve the building by somehow maybe making it flexible, like for earthquakes, but in a way for tornadoes.

I think people should start recycling things because if a tornado is to form not much things would make the tornado stronger. I think this is very crucial so that people can stay safe in that part of the United States and no much would be damaged in the area. We also could build stronger basements for the protection of people. I think these are two ways we could help people prepare for a tornado.

I think we should make more sturdy houses and less garbage because Tornadoes get stronger the more garbage, the more powerful, and the more damage it causes. And the more damage it causes, the more money there is too put in to build new houses, and the more money, the worse the economy gets. I think that they should just build more tight corners since tornadoes can't get through and go on usually one way.
