October Break
By: Anika

This October Break was fun and relaxing. For the first week on Monday I was home with my mom and playing with my goldfish. From Tuesday to Thursday I had a friend come over to my house and either we played shopping, board games, or restaurant with real food and water. Next, on Saturday I went to my friends house who sadly was going to India for good on that Monday. On Sunday we went to my friends house again to say goodbye and we stayed home. Then Monday through Friday Me and my mother were cleaning the house for a festival that was coming up called Diwali that is the festival of lights. During those two relaxing and fun weeks was a festival called Navratri. Navratri is a festival where my parents were fasting for nine days but only eating sweet potato with milk and my brother and I only eat vegetarian and we have to eat a special type of salt. This October break was fun and such a relaxing time. What did you do in your October break? What did you like the most and why did you like it?

Anika,
at october break, I went to Maui. Maui was a island from Hawaii. It was created from the volcano. The part I like was the volcano hike, surfing, kayaking, snorkling & submarine ride. The part I mostly like is when we were kayaking, we saw a sea turtle's. Then we jump of the kayak and went snorkling.
I also like one part when we went back to California, I played computer. the computer was fun. I played two games. The game's were Bakugan demensions and wake up the box.

In my vacation I went to Mt. Shasta for one week with an RV. It was really fun there. On the day we arrived it was the afternoon, so we made a fire and that was it. The next day, we went fishing. It was our first time and we didn't catch any fish. The next day we went boating at Shasta lake. It was really fun when the boat went fast. the last day we went fishing again. we didn't catch fish , but it was fun. All in all , I enjoyed my october break.

I went to my after school and did math that my parents gave, and at home I played video games, watched TV, and read. I liked playing video games, watching TV, and reading the most because it's the break and doing math takes away the whole purpose of the break.

Well, I did many things over the break. One particular event was my trip to the east coast. We first had a night view of Niagara Falls. The next day, we went straight to the Cave of the Winds. It is a place where you go right under the waterfall and get drenched. You can even feel the force of the waterfall, which is probably the reason they call it the cave of the winds. Then, we drove to New York. We first saw the Statue of Liberty and even climbed inside of it! Later, we went to the 102nd floor of the Empire State Building. It was amazing! You could see both rivers, the East and the Hudson. All the cars were smaller than your finger and you could see for miles! The next day, we drove to Washington D.C. and saw the White House, the Washington Monument, BEP, the Capitol, and the Smithsonian.

Nice post! Sounds like a fun Vacation! I stayed home with my grandparents for the first week. Then I stayed home with my parents the second week. I also celebrated Navratri (which I liked the most.) I celebrated it a little differently. I didn't fast. What I did was set up five steps with many gods on each row. Each day we would pray to a god for nine days. Then we called about 90 people to our house to see the steps which have been decorated and have dinner. This is what I did over the October Break.

I did a lot of things on my October break. But my favorite activity that I did over the break was, playing in the basketball club that my mom plays in and scored a bunch of baskets. I also played three soccer games over the break and I had three goals in all of the games combined. As you can see, my October break was awsome.

I had my Anual China Dance & Arts Dance Perfomance at Mission Center near Kifer. I did the lantern dance, Peking Rhyme. I was lucky I got two solo parts. I was nervous at first, but I soon got over it. The backstage room is a place where the dancers hang out while waiting for their turn. I like the permormance because it is another thing you can be proud of. I feel good about getting my solo part now, that I appreciate it.

In the October Break, I went to the island Maui. The airplane that we took there was supposed to take off at 7:30 am which meant I had to wake up at 5:50 am! Waking up early was much easier than I thought it would be. My family lived in a condo located in Ka'anapali we rented from somebody for 9 days. The condo we got was really nice. My sisters and I especialy liked the three wide screen TVs. We watched a lot of football and hockey there. My favorite thing I got to do there was snorkeling. I got to see some really colorful fish and coral. My favorite fish I saw was the needle fish. I liked it because it looked really cool with its long thin body. The only thing I didn't like about snorkeling was getting salt water in my mouth. At first, salt water may taste good but then your mouth starts feeling super dry after you consume too much. I also liked going to this super tall mountain called Haleakala. You can drive up all the way to the summit which is about 10,000 feet above sea level. It was really amazing to go above the clouds without going on an airplane. Our family could only hike for 30 minutes because the oxygen level up there is pretty low due to the high altitude .

Over the October break I had a really fun time at P.E.P and staying home with my mom. I went to P.E.P. with Kelly the first week of break. Our classes were P.E.N., plays, cooking, imaginary travel, and card games. My favorite class was cooking. We made chocolate chip cookies, french toast, and blueberry muffins they were all delicious! We also made recipe books. The second week of break I stayed home with my mom. We watched Ice Age the Meltdown and Cars. On the weekend when it was raining my sister and I went outside and found a bunch of snails and had a snail race. I fun on my break, but didn't have a favorite part.

I went to three different countries over my break. In all, I went to the airport eleven times and went to four different airports. On the first day, I went to Hong Kong for just three hours. For the next five to six days, I went to Taipei to visit my dad's parents. We went to Taipei 101 for dinner. I went back to Hong Kong on the seventh day. On the second week, we spent almost the whole week in Japan. We went to DisneySea which was really fun. I had a really fun October break.

Over my vacation, I just stayed at home and just relaxed. I couldn't go anywhere special because my sister didn't have a break like Portal since she is a sophomore at Lynbrook High School. Lynn (from room 24) came over to my house and baked cookies with my mom and me. We used cookie cutters and shaped cookies together. We both really enjoyed making the cookies. My favorite part over the break is when Lynn came over because I was bored all the time. As you can see, I had a really relaxing October break!

Great post, Anika!!!!!!!!(:

During the October break I went to my Chinese school. At Chinese school I played with LEGO during recess. I did my tutoring homework and I read the The Sea of Monsters, The Titan's curse, The battle of the Labyrinth, and The Last Olympian. I love reading books by RIck Riordan. My favorite part of the October break was reading the Percy Jackson series. That was what I did during the October break.

I went to Hearst Castle way in San Simeon. The lucky thing is that it was near the coast so we got to play on the beach. On one beach there was many different rocks and we ended up picking up a Cheeto bagful of rocks. The Hearst Castle was HUGE!!!!! There was bell towers and you would not believe this, but each room cost like 10 million dollars!!!!!!!

I practicly did nothing (like Anika but played with my Betta fish). We were planning to go to Hawaii, but I denied that. Boy am I glad I did not go to Hawaii. I would rather go nowhere than to die on Hawaii because a volcano puked up lava. "At least we are going to Hawaii in summer break!!!!!" said my mom. Boy am I scared, but hopefully they change their mind and we go to Toronto,Canada. Anyways on the summer break I wish we went to Toronto. I pretty much liked nothing over the break but sit relax and spend some time with my mom, dad, brother, and my fish who jumps around. So technicaly I did nothing over my break.

I went to PEP for the first week. There were Imaginary Travel, Cooking, Card Games, PEN,and making a skit. I liked PEN the most because it was neat how they did it. I also liked cooking where we made yummy food. The next week I stayed home and played video games, helped my mom, and read.

Unlike most of the comments, I did not do anything really exciting. The main thing I did was go to Morningstar Chinese School. I learned alot of chinese stories and did some math and english. Everything wasn't all that bad because I got to play with my friends. We played jumprope, cards, ninja, and sometimes we just talked. By the time I had to go home, my stomach hurt from laughing and having a great time.

I went on Oasis of the Seas (a cruise) to three islands.First,we went to Labadee,Haiti. We went to a private beach not close to the earthquake place. There also was a kind of dangerous waterpark because it was in the deep zone.We also rented a floating mat to rest on in the water and to go over to the deep zone.Near the shallow water, there were small fish that looked like sardines and giant starfish.
the shop owners were really weird.Once you ask,"how much is that?"Once you say that they will start following you around until you get through the ship security.Next,we went to Costa Maya.Me and my dad went on a snorkeling tour while my mom went shopping. On the snorkeling tour, their were lots of weird fish like a shiny green fish,a kind lizard fish, blue and yellow fish and fish that blend into the sea floor. After the tour,we went shopping. My mom already went on the ship because it always leaves at certain times. If your not on it,there goes your trip and you're stuck on the island. We went to different stores, but decided on a Mexican Fire Opal necklace.Last,we went to Conzumel.Every passenger that had a tour has to meet in the opal theater at a certain time.If you're too late, the tour will leave without you and you just wasted your money.Every passenger coming down for tours or shopping had to ride on a ferry. The ride was so bumpy,I got seasick. The tour was about the town ruins and had a beach break included. The ruins were called TULUM.While walking through a little path to the temple,we saw 2 giant lizards.TULUM was very big and even bigger than chinese temples.TULUM was about the size of a museum.TULUM has about thirty temples and a place to step down to the beach. After TULUM,we went to the beach, the water looked clean, but it actually was very dirty. There was only one store.I really loved this cruise!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice Post Anika! Your October Break really does sound fun and relaxing! For my break I stayed home most of the time, but I also visited a few friends (alot from school too!), and had three soccer games. In one of them I met one of our classmates! I also celebrated Navratri, but it was much more interesting for me this time because I kept the fast too! It felt so good to eat real food! So that's what I did over my break!

On my October break I went to CDC camp. At CDC we get to play a lot of things. My favorite part was making hummabeads. I enjoyed it the most because you can make it with different colors ,and you can take it home.
