Hurricane Katrina's 5th Anniversary
By: Himanshu
Did you know that it is Hurricane Katrina's 5th Anniversary? In case you didn't know, Hurricane Katrina was a huge hurricane that hit Louisiana, Texas, and Florida in 2005. It caused lots of destruction and devastation. Many people got injured. Most
people became were homeless. In the end it costed $81 billion dollars to recover and it is still recovering. They saved many people and gave them food, shelter, and water. Many countries came in to help and gave tons of money, food, aid, and other help full things. How would we help if an unexpected natural disaster came and how can we be prepared for that?

My family is prepared for a disaster because we have an emergency kit. It has food, clothes, medicine, and many other items we might need. I know how to be safe and protect myself during an earthquake. I also know many different routes out of my house if I need to leave. How I would help others would be to share my food or clothes if someone was in need.
I would help by building a team of rescuers and when any natural disaster comes by, my team would be ready to help people survive the horrible times. But before that even happens I better have tons of money and get trained to help people survive natural disasters.I can be prepared for that when I have coats and have insurence. These will come handy when an unexpected natural disaster happens.
I would help by giving food to the place that was destroyed. I would also give money to that place so that it could buy things to help them live. We can be prepared for that by saving extra food.I think that your topic was great because not many people know about this disaster.

We would be prepared by always having strong houses, also by making sure that we are always near a safe place to hide. I would help the people by giving the aids and food and shelter, donating money and water. I want to help the homeless. Thank you for the post Himanshu.
We can help by giving at least one family food, shelter, and aid so many of them could survive. We can be prepared for an earthquake or hurricane by having emergency packs with food in your house and at school. Also, there should be strong houses and buildings.
I would help by donating money. That way the people can rebuild most of the houses. We can prepare by having an emergency bag with food, money, water, etc.
This post has lots of information. The pictures show the massive destruction caused by the hurricane. Our weather forecast system should be more advanced to predict such disasters so that we can be prepared better to face them.
I would donate lots of money. Money is the main thing almost any disaster would need. How else are they going to get 81 billion dollars?
If a Hurricane came then I would tell everyone to lock everything, andlisten to the radio, hide somwhere that you won't be harmed like the basement,if you don't have a basement then hide a table.Be carefull!
The way I would help those people out is by sending furniture, people to build their houses again, and money. The way that we could prepare for this disaster is by storing everything you need in your cellar, having a plan when a disaster comes, and always check the forecast if you think something is wrong with it.
I know it is disatrous!I could help by giving people protection from the winds.I would push down tables to block the water from soaking us.I could be prepared by buy rafts and life rings.
Really intresting Himanshu. Thanks for the information. It's quite unbalievable how it hit Louisiana, Texas, and Florida.
I would help by having all the supplies we would need by having food, water, and shelter. If a disaster my family would most likely find shelter some where underground. My family is prepared for anything because we have everything we need in the garage and we also have an emergency kit. I would help by giving the people some shelter to live somewhere and food and water are the main things they need to survive and if they don't have somewhere to live they could die.
