Earthquake in Chile

There was a huge earthquake in Chile with a magnitude of 8.8. It was even worse than Haiti, Haiti's was 7.0 and that was even huge. More than 700 people died and 1,500 were injured. The earthquake took place on February 27, 2010 at 3:34 a.m. The aftershocks have been much more powerful than what Haiti faced. Many buildings and homes have been destroyed, two-million lost their houses. People are in Chile looking for survivors and helping the people out there. Chile is a long, thin country on the west coast of South America. The earthquake generated a tsunami which traveled through the pacific ocean. A tsunami is a very large sea wave which is usually caused by a sea quake.This caused a tsunami warning for Hawaii and Alaska. Do you think another earthquake will take place and will it have a bigger magnitude than the last one? Why?

I think that there will be another earthquake because many earthquakes have been occurring recently. There has not been major earthquakes for the past few years, and there will be many more. The earthquake that happened in Haiti was 7.0, even worse than the Quake of '89 (6.9)! Chile's was even worse than the earthquake that Haiti faced. For that reason, I think that the earthquakes that occur later will be even more powerful. Beware everyone!
Yes. I think there will be a bigger earthquake. There was a 9.0 earthquake before. Nearly the whole contry got wiped out. The earth crust will eventully store up enough energy. I might let it go sooner or later. That will cause a much bigger earthquake somewhere.
I do think that the Bay Area will have a big earthquake
soon (next five years). This is because the small earthquakes we had a month ago. This can sometimes mean that an earthquake will be coming soon. I do think that there will be a few after-quakes, but I don't think that it will be bigger than the original quake.
I wonder why there are many earth quakes in the world .Does this mean it is going to be the end of the world? I hope we as in here in California do NOT have an earth quake because the earth quakes are coming one by on here.
I do think that there will be a quite big earthquake because there was first a 7.0 earthquake in Haiti. Then, there was a 8.8 earthquake that struck Chile. So, I think that the earthquake that might strike here will be between 7.0 and 9.0. People also believe in a superstition that the world is going to end in 2012. After what the Earth has experienced so far, people who only heard might really think the world is going to end. We also didn't have a major earthquake since 1906 in San Francisco. It has already passed one century. That is why I think that there will be a earthquake striking California.
I think there will be another earthquake bigger than Chile's earthquake. The magnitude of the earthquakes keep getting bigger each time! We even had some earthquakes in San Jose! I really think that there would be another earthquake somewhere in the world that would be around 9.0!
I do think that there will a larger earthquake. Since, the earthquake in Haiti was smaller then the Chile earthquake. I think there might be an earthquake somewhere in Europe or North America. I think the next earthquake will be a 9.5 earhtquake. I also think that everyone should be on earthquake alert.
