Holiday Time
By: Kimberly

Christmas is almost here! I can't wait to get my presents, but it's important to give other people presents too. I love to sew so I'm making bags for some of my family. I'm not very good at sewing, but it doesn't matter. Just try your best. I'm making a glasses bag that says Boston on it, a little baggy for anything for my sister, and a bookmark for my mom. Everything is handmade. Sometimes that's okay, the best present is something make by yourself. I said I can't wait to get my present too, right? That's okay too. I want anything. I'm happy with whatever someone gives me. Besides, they are nice enough to even give you something. You should be happy that someone cares enough. What do you want, what are you giving, would a handmade present be good enough for you?

Let's Say Thanks

(Click the blog post title to go directly to the website)

With my brother being deployed overseas and it being close to the holidays, there has never been a better time to send a message of "thanks" to the U.S. troops serving our country. They are so far away from their homes and loved ones, and all to protect us and our right to freedom. Please take a moment to send a message to our troops to show that we are grateful for their sacrifice. To show that we thank them for their courage and wish them a safe and quick return home. Think of the spirits you could lift by taking a few moments of your day.

Languages
By: Brandon

Have you ever wanted to learn a foreign language for fun? Well, you will do that in middle school as a subject. A language I want to learn is French because of a couple reasons. First, I would want to visit Europe and many people there speak French and Spanish. If I learn French, then I would be able to communicate with those people. However, if I can't actually speak French fluently than I might be at least able to say "Do you know English." Then, that will be easier than asking "Do you know English" in English if they don't understand English. Second, since my sister started learning French a couple years ago in middle school, I would be able to communicate with her without my parents knowing what I am saying. I would want to do this because whenever they talk about me or my sister, they always talk in Taiwanese. I can't understand Taiwanese so I will be very happy to talk in a language that my parents do not understand. My sister can tell some words in Taiwanese because so sometimes I use her as a translator. Third, I want to learn French because it looks easier than Chinese to me. I think this because in my opinion, Chinese is the hardest language ever. There are plenty of words with the same sound and each word has lots of strokes. For example, the word "me" has 7 strokes. Also, French uses English letters so sometimes it will be a lot easier to pronounce it, but sometimes it has these e's with weird little dots on them which might me confusing. These are reasons why I would really want to learn French. What language do you want to learn and why?

  Favorite Seasons
By: Danhee

Well fall is drifting away to space when winter is arriving to San Jose. Can't you just tell? I mean the weather is getting chilly. Soon it will get too chilly that you will still shiver in front of a fireplace. But we are awfully lucky to live in a wonderful place that has four perfect seasons. Imagine if we had winter all year or summer all year! We always start off with spring in the year and  jump to summer, then to fall, then lastly to winter. My favorite season of all the wonderful four seasons is spring because I love the bueatiful flowers blooming and the sound of bees buzzing around collecting pollen. I also adore spring becuase I usually go to Korea every April with my dad beacuse we have a two week break. I only go with my dad becuase my sister only has one week of break in April. I go to Korea and visit my relatives and go visit a 63 floor building and it is one BIG building. Well those are most of the reasons I enjoy spring the best out of all the four seasons. Now what's your favorite season? Why do you enjoy it so much?

Collections
By: Andy

I collect many things including state quarters and other special coins. My collection of coins include 45 different state quarters, a Washington D.C. quarter, a United States of America quarter (drummer boy one) ,and  3 dollar coins. I still need to find the state quarters of Arizona, Texas, Colorado , South Dakota ,and Minnesota. I also want to find other US territory coins like the Guam quarter. The US territory coins were all released in 2009 so they are rather hard to find in circulation. I heard that there is  now a first wife dollar coin program! I found out that a good way to collect state quarters is to go to a dollar to quarters machine and put in 5 dollars and see how many special quarters the machine dispenses. I get my state quarters and nickles by, asking my parents if I can look at their change, using dollar to quarters machines, buying  some from my sisters, and asking cashier to turn a dollar into change. I got my dollar coins from a Washington D.C. subway ticket buying machine who gave out dollar coins as change. What things do you collect?
